Tree and Shrub Care Programs

Your trees, shrubs and lawn make a lasting impression. A well groomed yard makes a positive statement about your good taste and attention to detail. Not only do trees and shrubs add beauty to your home, they also increase the value of your property, offer shade from the sun, and provide a home for birds.

When your plantings look beautiful, it may appear to you that they are perfectly healthy and require little maintenance. This is simply not true. Trees and shrubs must have regular nourishment to flourish. They should be inspected and treated for insects and disease on a periodic basis. This is particularly true during their developmental stages or the first 5 to 10 years of age. That is why The Greenskeeper Inc. has designed a five step seasonal program for the care of your trees and shrubs.

Tree and Shrub Care for Developing Landscapes

SPRING
This consists of deep root fertilization of the plant in which the root probe feeder is actually inserted in the ground at precise intervals around the base of the tree and the drip line of its canopy. The fertilizer is then injected at the root system so that the tree can gradually utilize it during spring and summer growing periods. The results are usually fairly quick and the tree experiences good healthy growth both above and below the ground.

EARLY SUMMER
In this application we spray the first of two applications of ornamental insecticides for control of Bagworms, Cutworms, Webworms, Gypsy Moths, Caterpillars, and other leaf feeders that can damage younger plantings.

LATE SUMMER
Because tree and shrub damaging insects are seasonal in nature, this application is a repeat of the Early Summer treatment.

FALL
This application is designed to provide the developing landscape with two things. The deep root fertilization provides the plant with over winter food reserves and encourages earlier and more vigorous growth in the early spring of the year.

NOTE: The Greenskeeper recommends two annual fertilizations for trees and shrubs up to five years in age.
